ALSTOM sells its subsidiary ALSTOM Gears to Textron's David
Brown Group

ALSTOM has sold its subsidiary ALSTOM Gears, specialised in
the design and manufacture of marine and industrial high speed
gears, to the David Brown Group, part of Textron's Fluid &
Power Systems Group. This disposal is part of ALSTOM's
previously announced strategy to refocus its Industry
sector.

David Brown's primary business is the design and manufacture
of gears and gearboxes. It employs 3,000 people worldwide and
has total sales of 385 million euros. David Brown is owned by
the USA based Textron, a multi-industry company with market
leading businesses in aircraft, automotive, industrial and
finance. Textron, which has sales of over 9 billion euros,
employs 64,000 employees worldwide.

ALSTOM is confident that integration in David Brown, a
leader in the worldwide gears market, will secure a long term
future for the business of ALSTOM Gears and strengthen its
capabilities to the benefit of its customers.
