ALSTOM has received an order from Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft mbH Wuppertal, to supply new flue gas cleaning systems for their waste incineration plant. Initial delivery on the order will begin early in 2004, while engineering has already started.
Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft mbH Wuppertal serves the municipality of Wuppertal/ Remscheid. The existing plant, built in 1976, handles approximately 1,000 tonnes of waste per day, producing around 190,000 MWh per year.
In addition to the existing pre-cleaning plant, ALSTOM will deliver two Novel Integrated Desulphurisation (NID) flue gas-cleaning systems including auxiliary systems. The whole installation is scheduled for completion in December 2004. The emission limits are of 17.BImSchV. Special control equipment, patented by ALSTOM, will be installed to guarantee plant performance.
Ideal for new and retrofit installations, NID technology is an uncomplicated, cost-effective desulphurisation system that provides high performance and easy access while requiring minimum space and maintenance.
The excellent technical support provided by ALSTOM during the study phase largely motivated the customer's decision, together with its knowledge and trust of ALSTOM expertise and and performance in flue gas cleaning.
ALSTOM’s Environmental Control Systems Business is the market leader in providing air pollution control solutions for waste incineration plants. With extensive experience in 12 countries throughout Europe, ALSTOM has now installed flue gas cleaning systems to serve over 10 million tons of waste per year worldwide.
