The €360 million contract with the Department of Rapid
Transit Systems (DORTS) of Taipei was signed on November 19.
ALSTOM leads the consortium, and its share of the contract is
€129 million.

ALSTOM will be responsible for project management and
signaling, and for half of the track work and maintenance depot
equipment. CTCI will be responsible for track work and power
supply.

ALSTOM will provide the signaling equipment from its site
in Rochester, New York. It will be similar to the equipment
already supplied by ALSTOM and in service on most of the Taipei
network.

The extension of the Orange Line includes a

6.5-kilometer branch to Lu Chou with four new stations.

The Blue Line will be extended 2.2 kilometers from its
eastern terminus to Nankang, with two new stations.

Revenue service is scheduled to begin at the end of 2009.
