The trains, which have a top speed of 250 kph, will be
used for a regional shuttle service on the Spanish high-speed
network, including the Madrid-Barcelona line.

A second train will arrive at La Sagra for testing in the
beginning of 2004, and the last one is due to begin tests at the
Toledo workshops in November 2004.

The trains are bidirectional EMUs, with a capacity of 237
passengers. They are specially designed for regional services on
high-speed lines, featuring high standards of comfort and
reliability while offering reduced maintenance and operation
costs.

RENFE ordered 20 S-104 trains from a consortium of ALSTOM
and CAF in May 2001. ALSTOM’s share of the
€224 million order is €153 million.

With more than 35 product lines and a presence in more than
60 countries, ALSTOM's Transport sector offers complete
