Unit No. 3 will combust low-sulphur coal from the Powder River Basin of Wyoming.  An ALSTOM designed rotary atomizer, spray dryer absorber Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) system and high-ratio, pulse-jet fabric filter will be installed for control of gaseous and particulate air pollutants, including SO 2.   ALSTOMs DFGD system is required to meet stringent local and federal environmental standards for air quality.  The ALSTOM DFGD system will achieve and maintain emissions without the use of a recycle system.  The DFGD system will also consume plant wastewater to achieve a zero liquid discharge requirement.  ALSTOMs scope of supply includes design, supply and commissioning services for the DFGD system.  The project is scheduled to start-up in July 2006. We are very excited about this project, says Einar Saunes, Managing Director of ALSTOM Environmental Control Systems.  We see tremendous opportunities for DFGD systems on both new and retrofit projects because of their ability to provide efficient control of multiple air pollutants.  This project enables us to further demonstrate the successful operation, performance and reliability of our DFGD technology on Utility applications combusting western coals.Press Enquiries : Paola TizioniTel. :    +33 147 55 26 10
