ALSTOM Wins Another Industrial Steam Turbine Order for the USA

ALSTOM has won an order for an 87 MW industrial steam turbine to be delivered to a new power plant at Spagnoli Road, Long Island, New York, USA. The ST6-ST5 turbine will be supplied via EPC contractor Stone and Webster to the end customer Keyspan Business Development Corporation, and will be delivered from the ALSTOM industrial steam turbine manufacturing facility in Finspong, Sweden, end of March 2004. 

This is ALSTOM's second contract within a short period from the same constellation of EPC contractor and end customer. An 85 MW condensing ST5 steam turbine was previously supplied to Keyspan Ravenswood LLC, USA, for combined cycle application, and is currently under erection on site. The competitive performance of the ALSTOM turbines, together with successful fulfilment of the earlier project, were important factors in securing the second order 

"We are very pleased with this repeat order, which shows that confidence remains in ALSTOM's industrial turbine products and project capability, and that the customers are still willing to make investments, in spite of the recent fall in the American market," says Ruediger Stein, Managing Director of ALSTOM's Industrial Steam Turbine Business. ALSTOM received an order for a 93 MW ST6 turbine TIC-UE (The Industrial Company-Utility Engineering) for the Beatrice site in Nebraska, USA, as recently as February this year. 

The ST6-ST5 turbine combination is a reheat, two-body configuration which provides the customer with very high efficiency and flexibility.
