ALSTOM has been awarded a turnkey contract
from Vilnius Energija to convert Unit N°1, a Russian built
200 MW boiler, to provide low NOx emissions when firing
heavy fuel oil and natural gas, as well as the ability to fire
Orimulsion.
Vilnius Combined Heat and Power Plant is the
main source of district heating supplied to the capital of the
Republic of Lithuania. The boiler was commissioned in 1983 and
has a nominal capacity of 670 tonnes/hour with a maximum
capacity of 700 tonnes/hour of steam. The boiler is a type TGME
206 with twelve burners for mixed fuel, installed in two levels
on the back wall and designed for balanced draught operation
with natural re-circulation.
ALSTOM will provide, design, install and
test the new RoBTAS (Round Burner Tilted Air Supply) wall
burner equipment, boiler controls upgrade and new burner
management system. The project also includes enhancements to
the existing overfire air system and utilisation of bulk mixed
recirculated flue gas into the windbox from the existing
system, which is presently used for steam temperature
control.
ALSTOM's success in securing the project is
based in part on its high performing burner systems and ability
to meet a challenging 'Fast Track' programme for the works.
This contract follows on from the automated boiler ignition and
flame control system previously installed in 2002.
