Hydro Projects in China

ALSTOM has just been awarded two contracts worth around 37million euros for Francis turbine/generator units in the Hunan Province in southern China.

The first contract is with the Hunan Power Construction Co. Ltd for the supply of two 250 MW Francis turbine/generator units to the Zhexi Hydropower Station, located on the Zishui River.  

The units will extend the installed capacity of the 1960s-built power station from 447.5 MW (6 x 74.5 MW) to 1000 MW. Delivery of the first unit is scheduled for November 2007 and the second for March 2008. The contract value is around 27 million euros.

The second order, worth around 10 million euros, is from Jianghe Mechanical-electrical Engineering Co. Ltd to supply two 60 MW Francis turbine/generator units for the Zaoshi Hydro Power Station, located on the Xieshui  River. The first unit is expected to start commercial operation in June 2007.

ALSTOM in Tianjin, China, is responsible for the design, manufacturing, delivery and erection supervision of the equipment for both projects.

These two orders add to a string of recent ALSTOM successes in China, such as the three pumps storage projects and the Three Gorges Right Bank power house.
