This order corresponds to an option included in a contract
for the delivery of 80 cars which was signed in 1999 and
reactivated in December 2004.

So far 6 trains (30 cars) have been delivered from this
contract. They are currently in service on line D between
Catedral and Congreso de Tucuman stations and operated by
Metrovias.

The new metro cars will enable Metrovias to transform the
current 5-car trains into 6-car trains : each of the 16 cars
will be added to the trains already configured with the 80 cars
from the first contract, thus increasing passenger capacity and
comfort.

All metro cars will be finished and assembled in a 6-car
train configuration in ALSTOMs workshops in Los Hornos
situated  near  La Plata City, Argentina. The first
metro car will be delivered beginning of 2007. The delivery of
the last car is scheduled for the end of 2007.

Through this contract, ALSTOM reinforces its contribution to
the reconstruction of the Argentinian railway
network.

In addition to the metro cars, ALSTOM is currently providing
a new signaling system for metro line A and has already
delivered signaling equipment for lines B and E, as well as the
operations control center for all the modernized lines of the
Buenos Aires subway.

With more than 35 product lines and a presence in more than
60 countries, ALSTOM's Transport sector offers complete
products and services for new rolling stock, signaling, and
electrical and mechanical infrastructure as well as maintenance
and rehabilitation services to four distinct types of
customers: urban transit authorities and operators; intercity
passenger rail operators and rolling stock owners; rail freight
operators; and intercity railway infrastructure owners.
ALSTOM's Transport sector, with sales of 5.1 billion euros in
financial year 2004-2005, is among the world's leading
suppliers to the railway industry.
