The new T5 line of the Barcelona Tramway starts

The new line has 6 stations, of which 5 have been completely
newly constructed. It links the city centre to Besòs and is
2,8 Km long, of which 1,8 Km are under a semi-tunnel. On this stretch the circulation of railway traffic being
exclusive to tramways, ALSTOM´s CITADIS will develop a
maximum speed of 70Km/h. With this new line, Trambesòs now has a global length
of 9 Km and 19 stations, 7 of which are interconnected with
Barcelona Metro and 1 with RENFE´s local network. ALSTOM, within the framework of the turnkey contract, has
been responsible for the System engineering. The company has
supplied the Power Supply, Telecommunications, Ticketing,
Railways Signalling, Road Signalling, SCADA, AVLS (Automatic
Vehicle Localisation System) and Information passengers
systems.
