Alstom and its partners awarded two new contracts for the
maintenance of suburban trains in the Brazilian city of Sao
Paulo

In the first contract, the COMAFER (Consórcio de
Manutenção Ferroviária) consortium has been
selected by CPTM for the maintenance of 144 suburban train
coaches for the city of Sao Paulo. The consortium is made up of
Alstom (17.3%), CAF (17.3%), Bombardier (17.3%), MPE (16%),
Tejofran (16%) and Temoinsa (16%). The total value of the
contract amounts to 108,2 million. Alstoms share
is worth 18,7 million.

Alstom and its partners will be charged with the mechanical and
electrical maintenance of 48 three-coach trainsets (Series 2100
trains). These trains will operate on the various lines of the
CPTM network in Sao Paulo. Maintenance work on the coaches will
commence at the end of 2007 and will last for four years. 30
Alstom Transport employees will be involved in the
project. 

In a second contract, CPTM has entrusted the Cobraman II
consortium with the maintenance of 30 further suburban trains
serving the city of Sao Paulo. This consortium, which has
already handled maintenance of the CPTM trains since 2002, is
made up of Alstom (35%), CAF (35%) and Bombardier (30%). The
total value of the contract amounts to 81,6 million.
Alstoms share of the total is 28,5 million.

The contract covers the maintenance of 30 four-coach trainsets
(Series 2000 trainsets) which operate on line E, linking the
centre with the east of the city. Within the consortium, Alstom
Transport and CAF are in charge of mechanical maintenance and
Bombardier of electrical maintenance. The maintenance works
will commence at the end of 2007 and will last 4 years. 35
Alstom Transport employees will work on the project.
