The partnership between Alstom and the Nicolas
Hulot Foundation will allow both parties to promote constructive
debate and improve their respective approaches to tackling key
environmental issues in the crucial fields of power generation
and transport.

Nicolas Hulot and the experts working with his
Foundation - as well as NGOs and related bodies - will provide a
vital sounding board for Alstom, which aims to challenge its own
approach with the help of highly committed people working outside
the economic sphere to overcome environmental challenges. Alstom
will, in turn, provide extensive knowledge of economic and
technical issues. The partnership takes on even greater
importance in the run-up to this years Climate Change
Conference in Copenhagen, which it is hoped will lend fresh
impetus to government policies to tackle the dangers of global
warming.

Alstom is highly committed to developing clean
transport and power generation solutions. It provides utilities
and operators with technology that allows them to significantly
reduce the environmental impact of infrastructure so important to
social and economic growth.

In power generation, Alstom paves the way
through solutions designed to enable improved energy efficiency
(vital in reducing emissions), treat dust and effluent, and
capture greenhouse-effect gases. In rail transport,
Alstoms solutions provide energy savings along with
recyclable, low-polluting rolling stock that significantly
reduces congestion on roads and in the urban environment, with
high speed inter-city links offering a viable alternative to air
travel.

The partnership between Alstom and the Nicolas
Hulot Foundation also strengthens work done by Alstoms own
Foundation since its creation in 2007. Every year, the Alstom
Foundation dedicates 1 million to environmental,
educational and social causes around the world championed by its
employees in partnership with various associations. In 2010, the
Alstom Foundation will support projects in China, India,
Thailand, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Mali and
Sudan.

The Nicolas Hulot foundation for Nature and
Mankind

For around 20 years, the Nicolas Hulot
Foundation for Nature and Mankind has sought to modify the
practices of individuals and communities in order to protect the
planet. Established in 1990 and recognised as a
utilité publique by the French State in 1996,
this NGO dedicated to environmental protection is apolitical and
non-religious. Its programs are guided by a willingness to create
a common goal and approach between all societys
stakeholders. In 2009, the Foundation launched EVOLUTION:
CHAPTER 2, a program which will direct all its initiatives
from now on. Supported by a community of more than 500,000
people, the Foundation intends to propose solutions, arouse
environmental awareness, mobilise as many people as possible,
lobby on behalf of the general public interest and support
flagship projects.
