Algeria unveils its collection of Citadis trams

In Algiers, Algerias capital, the delegation made its
first journey onboard one of the 12 Citadis trams already
delivered to the customer by Alstom Transport in October 2009,
and making there on-track testing since then. The contract
includes the manufacturing of a turnkey tram system for a line
that will eventually extend over 23 km and have 38 stations.
The remaining 29 trainsets are due for delivery before the end
of the year, while the 8.5-km first section of the line,
linking the Cinq Maisons district to Bordj El Kiffan, is slated
for final delivery during the third quarter of 2010.



In Oran, the countrys second largest city, the Minister
inaugurated the first 40 metres of track and discovered the
Citadis model of which 30 trams will be progressively delivered
in January. In total, the line 18km long, will enter commercial
operation at the end of 2011.
