Alstom has invested 1.4 million dollars to renovate the
installations of the site, a military camp from 1853 to 1996.
New track has been laid. A ditch about 1metre 50cm deep has
been built to enable access beneath double-decker cars, whose
weight makes it impossible to work by lifting. 14 people are
employed on the site. Five double-decker intercity cars have
already been transported on site for renovation as part of the
contract signed in August 2009 with the California Department
of Transportation (Caltrans). A total of 66 cars of this type
will be modernised by 2011.
