On 20 October 2011, Alstom hosted a graduation ceremony for masters students in Law and Business Ethics at its Levallois-Perret, France, headquarters, as part of a three-year partnership with Cergy-Pontoise University. The event was presided over by Françoise Moulin Civil, President of Cergy-Pontoise University, and Patrick Kron, Chairman and CEO of Alstom. 30 students stepped forward to receive their degree from Anne-Sophie Barthez and Roxana Family, who together head the masters programme, and Jean-Daniel Lainé, Senior Vice-President, Ethics and Compliance at Alstom, and the man behind the initiative to sponsor the 2011 course).

Alstom began a three-year partnership with the law faculty at Cergy-Pontoise University in September 2010, which set up the chair for law and business ethics in 2007, now home to the European masters of the same name. This led to a sponsorship initiative through which Alstom is actively involved in the masters degree course and law research programmes: every year, the company's Ethics and Compliance department takes on student interns and department specialists speak at conferences held at the university.

"Through this partnership, Alstom invests in training future managers in ethics and compliance, a field that is growing in many companies. The course created by Cergy-Pontoise University is one of a kind in France and offers students training with immediate application in the business world," explains Mr Lainé.

The partnership with Cergy-Pontoise University is part of Alstom's commitment to ethical business practices -a commitment reflected in the recent decision by international agency, ETHIC Intelligence, to certify Alstom's Integrity Programme based on the results of an audit carried out in some ten countries where Alstom is present between January and July 2011. Alstom is the first company in France's benchmark CAC40 stock index to receive this stamp of approval; an indication of efforts made over the past few years to strengthen and develop its integrity policy.
