On Thursday 22 November, Alstoms Rugby Factory held an awards ceremony to recognise the success of their apprentices by awarding the Apprentice of the Year trophy.
The event kicked off with family and apprentices invited to take part in a tour of the Rugby factory and attend a prize giving, hosted by Richard Whitehouse, Factory Director Thermal Services. Judged on performance, teamwork, innovation and attitude, managers and supervisors of the factory were all involved in nominating a deserved winner.
This year Jack Coleman was awarded Apprentice of the Year, with Lewis Courtenay presented with the runner-up prize and David Swinfen named as most improved apprentice.
Its a great achievement to win Apprentice of the Year and is a fantastic way to finish my four year apprenticeship with Alstom. said Jack.
The Alstom Rugby site employs more than 700 people with this number rising as the company sets upon a recruitment campaign to fill 70 new vacancies. Click here to find out more.
The Steam Turbine Service Factory located at the site specialises in the repair, restoration and service of steam turbines from around the globe, while the Turbine Controls team provide comprehensive turbine control and monitoring system solutions for customers worldwide.
Richard Whitehouse said: It was extremely difficult for us to choose a winner as the overall standard is so high. Its great to see the commitment and dedication from our Apprentices and from the mentors who have been so fundamental to their training. I am confident each and every one of the Apprentices has a bright future and will achieve whatever it is they set out to do. They are a great asset to our company.
