Alstom has claimed first prize at Turkey's "Stars of Export Prize Ceremony 2011" in the category of "Electricity Transmission and Distribution Equipments". This annual event, hosted by Istanbul Minerals and Metals Exporters' Associations (IMMIB), awards the companies which have achieved the highest volume of export in their respective categories over the previous year. The ceremony took place in Istanbul.

This is the second year running that Alstom, global leader in power generation, power transmission and rail infrastructure, has won first prize, demonstrating its strong level of exports and continued success in its field.

Adil Tekin, Alstom Turkey Country President, who received the prize on behalf of Alstom, said, "Alstom prides itself on delivering not only local added value with the production in our own field, but also contributing to the country's economy with a great achievement in export. I am very pleased to accept this award on behalf of Alstom, recognising our success in export, and I would like to thank IMMIB for organising such a successful event".

Alstom Turkey's Gebze plant is currently the largest transformer factory in Turkey with an annual production capacity of 36,000 MVA*. Alstom leads in its field by developing customer-valued technology, meeting all national and international standards, and responding to design, delivery and cost demands, while maintaining high quality standards, using modern production techniques and comprehensive test laboratories.

Alstom Turkey exports 85 percent of its production to countries worldwide, from US to Germany, and from South Africa to Venezuela. With its first-in-class facilities and engineers, Alstom Turkey is recognised as a preferred supplier in the field of power transmission, not only within the country, but all over the world.
