Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has awarded Alstom a contract to supply the Urbalis train control system to Corridor 2 of the new Jaipur metro in India. The contract includes the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the complete train control, traffic management and signaling systems for Corridor 2 (EW-A section) of Phase I of Jaipur metro.

Alstoms Urbalis system enables automated train operation and traffic management, ensuring optimal train driving and energy saving while guaranteeing maximum safety, flexible operations and heightened passenger comfort. This is the fifth metro line in India to be equipped with Urbalis after Delhi lines 1 and 2 and Bangalore Lines 1 and 2.

We have successfully delivered this system to Delhi Metro (DMRC) and we are currently delivering it to Bangalore Metro (BMRCL). The winning of the contract for a new train control system for Jaipur Metro stands as a testimonial to Alstom Transport's worldwide expertise, state-of-the-art technology and strong commitment to the Indian market. It reinforces Alstoms leadership in urban metro signaling in India and the growing success of customer confidence in our offerings commented Jojo Alexander, Managing Director of Alstom Transport in India.

The Phase-I of the Jaipur Metro Rail project will consist of two corridors providing connectivity to North-South and East-West corridor. The 23 km long, Corridor-I (North-South) will connect Sitapura to Ambabari. This corridor will be 5 km underground and 18 km elevated. The 11.6 km long, Corridor-II  (East-West) will connect Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar with 2.3 km being underground and rest 9.3 km elevated. The EW-A section comes under the East-West corridor.

This contract will involve Alstom units of Delhi, Bangalore (India), Bologna (Italy), Saint-Ouen and Villeurbanne (France).
