Alstom is taking part in the Atomexpo Exhibition with its Russian partner Atomenergomash via their Joint Venture Alstom Atomenergomash established in June 2007 in order to sell, engineer, manufacture and deliver nuclear turbine islands based on Alstom state-of-the-art half-speed ARABELLE™ technology, and respond the Russian market needs.
AtomExpo is a three-day forum comprising international nuclear energy congress and exhibition. This event organized by the Russian State Nuclear Corporation (Rosatom) is currently the major international exhibition and business ground of the Russian nuclear industry, enterprises and related industries.
Both companies are halving 98 sqm of the joint exhibition space where the Alstom’s ARABELLE™ turbine model is the key exhibit.
Alstom is the first western manufacturer to gain a foothold in the Russian nuclear market
The joint venture Alstom Atomenergomash (AAEM), where Atomenergomash holds 51% and Alstom 49%, makes Alstom the first western manufacturer to gain a foothold in the Russian nuclear market, along with third-party markets for nuclear power plants that use Russian nuclear technology.
AAEM combines Russian nuclear reactors with cutting-edge technology for conventional islands (AAEM brings the half-speed technology needed for high-power reactors rated above 1,100-1,200 MW). The tie-up will adapt and produce ARABELLE™ turbines, generators and auxiliary systems designed by Alstom for VVER pressurised water reactors in the civil sector. Manufacture steam turbines and generators for conventional power plants is also being considered.
Last February AAEM and Rosatom signed an agreement to supply turbine island equipment for units 1 and 2 of the Baltic nuclear power plant in Kaliningrad region, which are to be commissioned in 2018 and 2020 respectively. The scope of supply agreement signed by AAEM includes Alstom steam turbines ARABELLE™, generators, condensers, moisture separator reheaters and auxiliary equipment.
Our extended portfolio: Technology that makes a difference
Alstom is a world’s leading supplier to the nuclear power plant market and the only turbine manufacturer able to completely design, engineer and manufacture turbine islands for all types of reactor.
Alstom is able to meet the most wide-ranging needs of plant operators, offering individual components - such as turbines, turbogenerators, heat exchanges, pumps - as well as integrated turbine islands.
