Hatay Senkoy Wind Farm is launched

The opening ceremony of Hatay Senkoy Wind Farm, which was started to be constructed by Guris in June 2011 and which was commissioned in recent months, was held on August 04^th, Saturday with the participation of the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz, and Minister of Justice Sadullah Ergin. Managing Director of Guris, Mr. Musfik Yamanturk also joined the event.

Senkoy Wind Farm project, completed by Guris Insaat ve Muhendislik A.S., has a total capacity of 27 MWs of power with 9 units of 3 MW ECO 100 wind turbines installed by Alstom. Approximately 40.000 residences are foreseen to benefit from the plant; which has an estimated annual production capacity of 86.548.000 IWh. The project will also prevent 41.000 tons of carbon emission on average.

Managing Director of Guris, Mr. Musfik Yamanturk has pointed out that annual energy output of Senkoy Wind Farm will be higher than calculated by saying; "Thanks to ECO 100 turbines of Alstom; annual power output of Senkoy plant will be ten percent higher than designed values.

Indicating that this is the second project of Guris, Yamanturk continued as follows:  "Power consumption of Turkey shows an increasing trend with 8% growth each year. In order to contribute to meeting this demand, our country leads to renewable energy resources for the purpose of developing energy security and decreasing our dependence on imported natural gas. Turkey aims at reaching a windpower capacity of 20 thousand MW until year 2023. And we realize our projects to take part in this goal."

Alstom Turkey Country President Mr. Adil Tekin has presented his gratitude for this important cooperation with Guris and said: "We have been serving in Turkey energy market for about 60 years, in both thermal and renewable power generation fields. We see ourselves capable of meeting all needs of Turkey in power generation including gas, coal-powered or renewable power plants. Now, you can see Alstom brand on half of the installed hydro-power capacity. Now, we set on our way to be the leader of windpower plants. We feel glad, as we have brought 30-year experience of Alstom into Turkey thanks to Senkoy Wind Farm Project."

Having completed supply, installation and commissioning of Windpower Plant, Alstom will also provide operation and maintenance service for the first five years.
