Marcos Costa is appointed president of Alstom Brazil

As of September 1st, Marcos Costa, currently vice-president of Renewable and Thermal Power Sectors for Latin America, will take over the position of president of Alstom Brazil, maintaining the regional position in power generation sector. Philippe Delleur, president of the Brazilian unit at the moment, will take over the position of president of the company's strategic board in the country, and will continue to be senior vice-president for LAM and for the International Network of the Alstom group at a global level.

Marcos Costa, 55 years old, is Brazilian, electrical engineer graduated from Federal University of Minas Gerais UFMG, and specialist in business administration from Getúlio Vargas Foundation - FGV. He has 32 years of experience in the infrastructure market, having occupied management and top management positions in capital goods companies in the power sector. Working at Alstom since June 2006, he is currently the main executive in the power generation area of the company in Latin America.

"Philippe Delleur's management was based on the integration between the company's sectors, the participation in new markets and the search for common results. This integration and growth will continue to be our priorities. The challenges are big, but we have many opportunities in progress to develop the Brazilian infrastructure", says Marcos Costa.

Over the past few years, the company went from 4 to 9 units in the country, opened the first capital goods industry upon request in the Northern region, located in Rondônia, and its first wind equipment factory in Latin America, located in Bahia; it laid the foundation stone of the first global hydro technology centre in Latin America, based in Taubaté; a new capacitor production line in Itajubá plant (MG); a new 800kV HVDC transformer laboratory in Canoas (RS), in addition to winning very important contracts, such as the one for the Belo Monte, Santo Antonio, Jirau and Teles Pires power plants; contracts for wind plants, including substations supplied by Grid sector and wind turbines supplied by Renewable Power sector; a contract for the transmission part of UTE Parnaíba; a project with Light to equips the main control center of the company; trains for CPTM - Expresso Leste line, in São Paulo, among others.

"This was a chapter in the history of Alstom Brazil, but which will continue upon the lead of Marcos Costa. As president of the company's strategic board in the country, I hope to be able to continue contributing to the progress of more projects and works in favor of the Brazilian development", says Philippe Delleur.

Alstom currently has 5 thousand employees in Brazil and had revenues of R$ 2.6 billion and an order backlog of R$ 2 billion in the last fiscal year.
