Alstom and DF, the companies building the Carrington gas-fired power station, have helped local dance troupe Charisma Stars with a donation of £500 towards their running costs.

Charisma Stars Dance Troupe was formed in 2011 as a not for profit community group. The group is open to all adults, young people and children and they can participate in dance and exercise activities that promote confidence, team building and physical exercise.

Laura Chard, from Charisma Stars, said: We were so pleased that Alstom and DF were able to support our community group. The money will go towards room hire, material costs and transport. We have recently been fundraising around the area to cover these costs and the donation adds a considerable boost to our funds. Each year we work towards entering local dance events across the North West. This year we were thrilled to receive the title of Junior Troupe of the Year at the championships and also runner up Troupe of the Year for our Baby and Tiny groups. Naturally we are striving for more success next year with continued support from our donators.

DF representative Julio Rodriguez said: The consortium partners were happy to support this community group and it was a wonderful experience meeting so many members of the dance troupe. We wish them every success in their future dance competitions.

Charisma Stars meet every Monday evening at Partington Community Hall for weekly dance rehearsals and workshops for four age groups (up to 6, 6-12, 12-16 and 16+). The dance troupe is open to boys and girls of all abilities and no skill or experience is necessary. Anyone wishing to join can contact Laura on charismastarsdance@gmail.com.
