Alstom has scooped three accolades at the 2013 Green Apple Awards in the engineering and manufacturing category at a special ceremony in the House of Commons on 11 November.

Entering the awards for environmentally focused work on our UK Transport sites, Alstom showcased its dedication to improving its environmental footprint by winning:

A UK Green Champion Award for waste management at mainline sites in partnership with waste management partners B&M Waste Services and Haz Environmental;

A UK Green Champion Award in the Science and Technology sub category for the environmentally-friendly, innovative method of removing oil from track ballast and concrete in partnership with Chela Ltd (one of the UKs leading manufacturers of innovative industrial cleaning chemicals); and

An overall top UK Green Champion Award in the Engineering and Manufacturing category.

Alstoms Paul Crowley, Lead Buyer Indirect Sourcing, attended the event and received the awards on behalf of the company. And, in addition to Alstoms awards, Paul was also presented with an individual award in recognition of his work in negotiating environmental and ethical contracts.

The Green Apple Awards began in 1994 and have become established as one of the major environmental recognition schemes, both in the UK and internationally.
