March is marked by a great achievement for Teles Pires hydro project in the North of Brazil: the power plant received its first stay ring. Produced by Alstom, in Taubaté unit, the equipment was supplied in 6 parts, totaling approximately 225 tons and 13 meters of diameter. The transportation of this equipment has been fully by road, what is a challenge in the region.
Alstom also started to produce this month the first Francis wheel to the project, with around 300 tons and 8.5 m diameter, one of the largest ever produced by Alstom worldwide.Teles Pires hydro plant is located between the states of Mato Grosso and Pará. The plant will have five Francis turbines and an installed capacity of 1,820 MW.
