The first day of the 60th session of the World Congress of UITP was synonymous with innovations. Indeed, Alstom unveiled yesterday in Geneva two new solutions, Axonis and Urbalis Fluence. Look back on a day full of events!

From 9:00 am, visitors to the exhibition discovered the Alstom stand. The exhibition space was entirely devoted to urban mobility, and especially featured:

  • metro systems, with a presentation of Axonis, the new Alstom solution launched to meet the specific transport needs of fast-growing and densely-populated cities, and 2 models of the Lille and Amsterdam metros.
  • services, an Alstoms expertise illustrated by the video testimonial of Stewart Mills, Director of Operations for Tube Lines (Northern Line, London underground)
  • tramway systems, with a film presenting the APS and HESOP solutions.

11:00. Thierry Bonnefous, Urban Solutions Director, gave a presentation on how Alstom is responding to its customers current needs and anticipating future ones for CBTC.

Outside the exhibition centre, the Loire river mirror livery of the Tours Citadis tramset has attracted a lot of attention. Jérôme Wallut, SVP France, and the main participants of this project, including the President of the Tours agglomeration, Jean Germain, recalled that the Tours tramway benefits from the latest innovations of the Citadis range for passenger comfort.

15.00. It is time for the press conference

More than 80 journalists attended the press conference given by Henri Poupart-Lafarge, Alstom Transport President. After recalling the challenges of urban transport, he revealed the latest solutions proposed by Alstom for urban transport: Urbalis Fluence and Axonis.

The President concluded with an overview of urban mobility according to Alstom: Constantine tramway in Algeria, Los Teques metro in Venezuela and LRV Citadis Spirit for Ottawa in Canada.

17.00. The stand is packed with visitors

Henri Poupart-Lafarge, Pascal Cléré, SVP TIS, and Yves Baesen, representing Lille Metropole, presented Urbalis Fluence, the new CBTC solution developed by Alstom Transport.
