On 17 June, the Polish vice-minister of transport Andrzej Massel met his Italian counterpart Rocco Girlanda on Alstoms site in Savigliano, Italy. The event was part of the official presentation to the board of PKP and PKP Intercity of the first Pendolino train for Poland.

On 28 May 2013, Alstom and PKP Intercity revealed, in Poland, the train design and the facilities planned for the future passengers. They also disclosed the name of the train: EIC Premium (Express InterCity Premium). The Pendolino will bring about a revolution in  railway transportation in Poland. A trip from Warsaw to Krakow will take two hours and fifteen minutes, shaving off an hour from the current journey time.

Soon on the tracks!

The event represents a significant step of the contract signed between Alstom and the Polish operator in May 2011 for the delivery of 20 multiple train units, the construction of the train depot in Grochów district of Warsaw and 17-year technical maintenance of trains. The Express InterCity Premium trains will start to run on the Polish network from December 2014 and will connect northern and southern Poland, linking the Tricity, Warsaw, Cracow, and Katowice. PKP also plans to add other destinations such as Wrocaw, Rzeszów and Bielsko-Biaa. Before commencing revenue service in Poland, the Pendolino train will undergo tests in August on the test track in migród near Wrocaw and subsequently on the railway lines where it is to shuttle.
