Alstom's use of techniques and technologies pioneered by Formula One racing teams came under the spotlight in a piece that has aired on BBC Breakfast.
The segment, headed up by Richard Westcott, the BBC's Transport Correspondent, was partly filmed at Alstom's Midlands Traincare Centre in Oxley, Wolverhampton and featured our innovative Traintracer technology - which can highlight faults on Pendolinos before they actually happen - together with the work that we do to put those faults to right using pitstop techniques pioneered by Formula One.
West Coast Main Line Managing Director Tim Bentley was interviewed while under a Pendolino that was having its tilt mechanism tested. Ive been under a train plenty of times but not with a BBC film crew before, said Tim. It was certainly an interesting experience but the main message we wanted to get out was that were using innovation and technology in new ways to ensure that customers using the Pendolino fleet have the best experience possible.
