Former Alstom CFO, François Newey, passed away following an accident on 15 July 2013.

Patrick Kron, Alstoms Chairman and Chief Executive, paid tribute to Mr Newey, recalling his essential role in the development of Alstom: François Newey oversaw Alstoms initial public offering in 1998.  He ensured the success of this decisive step in the history of the Group and reorganised the companys financial operations.  Those who knew him will remember him as someone of great skill, experience and enthusiasm.

Alstom presents its sincere condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

Born in 1943 and a graduate of ESCP business school, Mr Newey spent most of his career at Pechiney, starting in 1970. In 1993, he became the companys Chief Financial Officer. He joined Alstom in 1998 as CFO and member of the Executive Committee, a position he held until his departure  in 2002.
