October 14, 2014 - Alstoms Jerome Wallut hosted U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) at APTA EXPO 2014. During the event Secretary Foxx and Congresswoman Lee visited Alstoms booth where Jerome shared some insight into the latest innovations in rail transit including the companys Citadis Spirit light rail vehicle, off wire capabilities and high-speed rail technology.
October 13, 2014 - APTA EXPO 2014 kicks-off in Houston, Texas!
Alstom Transports knowledge and innovation team debuted new virtual training simulators to the North American market including the new oculus 3D virtual reality headset which simulates being in the drivers seat of a high-speed train traveling over 250mph. The driving simulator enabled participants to emulate the operation of a Citadis light rail vehicle through acceleration, deceleration and emergency braking in a virtual reality setting. These simulators are the next generation of training tools that will help train rail operators in a safe, controlled environment.
Throughout the day, Alstom joined leaders from rail transportation industry to discuss the latest technologies, innovations, projects and challenges that are driving the future of the market. Visitors stopped by Alstoms booth to learn about the companys light rail, high-speed rail, signaling and service capabilities.

Alstom Transportation joins more than 15,000 industry leaders and over 800 exhibitors in Houston, Texas for the biggest event in public transit, American Public Transportation Association's (APTA) EXPO 2014, October 12th-15th. Participants from all over the world gather to discuss the latest innovations in the public transportation sectors.
Leaders from Alstoms North American transport business including Jerome Wallut, the new SVP for Alstom Transportation North America, will be on site throughout the event to participate in sessions, meet with industry thought leaders and customers and engage in high-level discussions on the future of public transportation.
Alstom will showcase its world-class signaling systems, rolling stock, information solutions and train maintenance services. Experts will highlight Alstoms unique ability to localize proven technologies to perform reliably on existing infrastructure and under the operating conditions and performance requirements of the North American market. Alstoms high-speed rail, light-rail, streetcars and metros are designed to improve passenger comfort, shorten travel times, increase reliability and service, improve efficiency and ensure the highest level of safety.
The company is also featuring its rolling stock facility in Hornell, NY, which has been manufacturing and servicing trains for nearly 150 years. This historic facility and its highly-skilled workforce represent the foundation of Alstoms extensive North American presence, which includes 1,500 employees at 12 sites in the US and Canada.
