Alstom celebrates 65 years of presence in Croatia

Alstom celebrates this week its 65 years of presence in Croatia, dating back from the production of the first steam turbine in Karlovac in 1949. Numerous customers from Croatia and abroad joined the celebration at Karlovac plant, together with Alstom Croatias 859 employees.

Karlovac is the production site for steam and gas turbines components as well as power generation equipment and related service activities. The facility provides complete service solutions for thermal power plants, industrial steam turbine plants and is involved in the assembly, manufacturing and reconditioning of gas and steam turbine components. A total of 239 steam turbines have been produced for customers worldwide at this site since its opening. Additionally, over 200 mechanical engineers work in R&D and engineering, contribute to Alstoms leadership in thermal power generation.

Denis Peranic, Alstom President for the Balkans, said: We are very proud of our heritage, and our manufacturing facility in Karlovac. This anniversary is a celebration of our strong legacy of technical excellence and being able to answer our customers needs, as well as employees dedication to the local community. At marking this anniversary we are confident of having an even greater stake in the future as well.

During this period we focused on delivering on our commitments with the highest level of quality. And this was achieved thanks to team work and engaged employees that form the hallmark of our site here.

During its history, Alstom Croatia developed a strong relation with local community and institutions. To illustrate this commitment, Alstom Croatia celebrated its anniversary, with a symbolic donation of 65,000 kunas (about 8,600) to two humanitarian organizations at local level (Karlovac County): Jak kao Jakov Association (Strong as Jakov), for children with malignant diseases and to Zvoncici, an association of children with difficulties in development.
