AAEM, a joint venture of Alstom and Atomenergomash, took part in the international meeting of turbine island directors that was held on February 11-13, 2014 in Moscow.

At the meeting, AAEM Chief Technical Director Alexander Tsvetkov for the first time showcased complete optimization of the NPP's low-grade section (turbine outlet, condenser and process water supply system), thanks to which AAEM can offer the most effective solutions for any climatic applications. These solutions have been elaborated for all VVER-2006 and VVER-TOI turbine hall designs using ARABELLETM turbine plant. They are based on the best combination of a number of low-pressure cylinders, outlet standard sizes, vacuum in the condenser, its surface and water velocity in tubes, cooling water consumption and cooling tower irrigation area.

Meeting of directors of Russian and foreign nuclear power plants is held each year and focuses on enhancement of reliability and performance of turbine equipment. This year, the meeting has been attended by 120 people from more than 50 organizations, including 25 nuclear power plants.

Alstom-Atomenergomash (AAEM) is a joint venture created in 2007 in Russia by Alstom(49%) and Atomenergomash (51%) to deliver nuclear conventional islands and assembly of machine for Russian and foreign nuclear power plants with Russian reactor types based on the licensed technology ARABELLE .

Core activities of the JV: manufacture of low-speed steam turbines and generators with a capacity of 1,200-1,800 mW, steam separators and condensers based on the ARABELLE low-speed technology, engineering services and equipment of NPP turbine islands using the ARABELLE low-speed technology.
