In a survey of school and college leavers carried out by allaboutschoolleavers.co.uk, Alstom placed highly in three categories and was named as best company for career progression.

Sixteen of the 19 awards including those where Alstom featured were awarded based on employee satisfaction surveys undertaken by employees currently undertaking school leaver programmes, Higher Apprenticeships and sponsored degree programmes in the UK.

As well as winning best career progression, Alstom also came:

  • 12th for advanced apprenticeships;
  • 16th for school and college leavers level 2 or 3; and
  • 22nd for all school and college leavers.

Terence Watson, President of Alstom UK, said: This is a great result for us and reflects our commitment to training and bringing on the next generation of UK engineers. Its not only fantastic to get this recognition its even better that its our own graduates and apprentices who have voted for us.

The survey participants were asked about a variety of topics including: job satisfaction, skills development, training, career progression, salary, benefits, company culture, level of responsibility, working environment, team relationship and work-life balance.

The winners were derived from an average score and percentage for each organisation. An important distinction was made between schemes for candidates with Level 2 qualifications (GCSEs, Standard Grades and equivalent) and those programmes for candidates with Level 3 qualifications (A-Levels, International Baccalaureate and equivalent).
