West Midlands MEP Malcolm Harbour and three of the Conservative Partys local European candidates visited Alstoms Rugby site to take a closer look at the work the company undertakes in the town.

Mr Harbour, who steps down as an MEP this year, was joined by candidates Dan Dalton, Dan Sames and Sibby Buckle were given a tour of the factory, which is busy refurbishing steam turbines from power stations around the country. They then moved on to see some of the highly technical work the research and development team undertakes to make power stations around the world more efficient.

Joe Jamieson, Manager, Model Testing at Alstom, said: As an engineer himself, Malcolm really seemed to appreciate the work that we do here in Rugby as we work to extend the life of power stations and make them more efficient for customers around the world.

Alstom employs around 600 people in Rugby, refurbishing steam turbines from around the world, working at the cutting edge of engineering technology and designing smaller scale turbines for industrial processes or green generation.
