Alstom start its operations for Manduriacu hydro plant, in Ecuador

In march, Alstom has started its equipments commercial operations for Manduriacu hydro plant, located in Ecuador, and participated at the official launch of the plant in the country. The event, which happened on March 19th, had the presence of the President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, besides other local authorities, as the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Esteban Albornoz.

After the two generator units takeover, included on Alstoms scope, the company started an assisted operation at the plant that shall be concluded until September of this year, following and supporting CELECs operation. The hydro plant already started the energy distribution to the customers. 

Manduriacus plant will promote changes to the energy matrix of all Latin America. The beginning of our operations on this project, once again, proves our commitment in generate electric energy with excellence and quality to the worlds population and Alstoms contribution to the development of the countries, says Januário Dolores, General Director of Alstoms Hydro Business in Latin America. 

Alstom is part of a consortium which supplies equipment to the Manduriacus project, in which its share is approximately 25 million. The scope includes two Kaplan turbines of 30MW each, with a total of 60MW of generation, beyond the delivery of hydromechanical equipment, substation and balance of plant. The manufacturing was done at Alstoms unit in Taubaté, in São Paulo (Brazil), and passed through a quantity of operational tests at the factory.
