Alstom organized for the first time in Katowice a Supplier Day, which gathered 150 participants, representing 90 suppliers. This initiative, aiming at reinforcing key partnerships locally, is part of the companys strategy for 2020 to better understand customers needs, innovate and reach operational excellence.

Alstom wants to create premium partnerships with strategic suppliers to share innovations and mutualize the development of key components in order to deliver quality, cost-effective, and reliable mobility solutions. Today, Alstom Konstal sources 40% of components from Polish contractors. In total, over 300 Polish suppliers cooperate on a permanent basis with the company, both at local and international levels.

Alstoms site in Chorzów is responsible for the execution of metro and Intercity New Generation Trains contracts as one of the leading units within the Alstom Group. This couldnt be possible without a close co-operation with our strategic suppliers. By reinforcing this network, the company contributes to the local economy and employment, creating indirect job , said Radosaw Banach, President and Managing Director of Alstom Konstal.

Only a few years ago the site in Chorzów was just a subcontractor in rolling stock contracts for internal customers. Today, the site employs around 1,000 people and has become a competence and manufacturing centre for metro trains for the entire Alstom Group.
