Rob Whyte appointed new MD for Alstom Nordics

Alstom appointed Rob Whyte as Managing Director in the Nordics, based in Stockholm. Rob Whyte was previously Managing Director for Regional & Intercity at Alstom in UK & Ireland.

I am very excited about this opportunity to lead our Nordic operations.The industry is shifting towards more sustainable solutions, which is reflected especially is a company fostering innovation, and I see many opportunities to leverage from our experience in the railway industry to move towards expanding the transport infrastructure in the Nordics”, says Rob Whyte.

Rob Whyte started with Alstom 23 years ago as an apprentice at Alstom in parallel with his engineering university studies. He first worked with Alstom Grid, then joined a rolling stock leasing company, before running his own business for a few years, until he re-joined Alstom Transport 8 years ago. Up until now he has been Managing Director - Regional & Intercity at Alstom UK & Ireland, where one of his responsibilities was to maintain the Pendolino fleet used by Virgin Trains on the West Coast Mainline, one of the biggest Alstom maintenance contracts in Europe. Rob has also led Alstom's successful bids for Nottingham tram and Crossrail infrastructure in London. 

In addition, Björn Asplund, currently Customer Director in Sweden and Managing Director of Motala Train AB, is appointed Managing Director for Alstom Sweden.
