Alstom and the Silesian University of Technology partner to organise the scientific conference Rail Vehicles 2018

Alstom in Konstal has signed a cooperation agreement with the Faculty of Transport of the Silesian University of Technology regarding the joint organisation of the XXIII scientific conference Rail Vehicles 2018. The conference will take place in Katowice, Chorzów and Szczyrk from 22to 25May 2018.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Piotr Folga, the Dean of the Faculty of Transport, on behalf of the Silesian University of Technology and by Alstom Konstal President, Radosaw Banach, on behalf of Alstom. The Department of Railway Transport of the Silesian University of Technology was represented by Mr. Jarosaw Konieczny.  

We are very pleased to be able to develop and improve the competence of our future railway engineers in close cooperation with Alstom. Such joint initiatives are also an excellent way to promote studies at the Silesian University of Technology said Piotr Folga, the Dean of the Faculty of Transport.

This conference is another good example of strengthening the cooperation between the Silesian University of Technology and Alstoms site, based in Chorzów. Today, being Alstoms competence centre for metro aluminium and a leading unit for the design and manufacturing of Intercity class trains, built with aluminium technology, we help to train the most skilled professionals, added Radosaw Banach, President of Alstom Konstal.

This is not the first joint initiative of both partners. For many months, Alstom in Konstal, under the Partnership Agreement signed with the Silesian University of Technology, has provided the opportunity of undertaking half-year internships to graduates of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, with an option of employing the best trainees. Last spring, a series of lectures was held for 50 students of The Faculty of Transport of the Silesian University of Technology, entitled Managing the enterprise in the railway industry.
