Alstom will present its innovative hydrogen train at Exporail 2019
26 March 2019 – Alstom will present Coradia iLint, the first passenger train powered by hydrogen and free of polluting emissions, during the XVIII Exporail Congress 2019, as part of the global objectives of the company for developing innovative solutions for sustainable mobility.
Exporail is an event organized by the Mexican Association of Railways (AMF) that every year gathers the most relevant actors in the industry to discuss on the challenges of the cargo and passenger rail sector in Mexico. Through different panels and technical sessions, high-profile speakers from both private and public sector will present current trends and opportunities. This year the "Railway Challenges" edition of Exporail will be held from March 26 to 27 in Expo Santa Fe, Mexico City.
Bernard Albrand, Business Development Manager of Alstom, will participate in the Sustainability panel to talk about Coradia iLint, Alstom’s hydrogen train, which besides being silent and free of emissions represents a clean alternative for railway operators.

By participating in Exporail 2019, we will have the opportunity to present Coradia iLint, a train powered by hydrogen, that meets the need of having an efficient and innovative means of transport for passengers that is able to limit the environmental impact”, said Bernard Albrand.
The Coradia iLint is powered by hydrogen cells, so it only emits steam and condensed water; In addition, it has an intelligent management of power and available energy. Unlike an electric train, it does not require catenary, which reduces investment in infrastructure, hence it represents an economic alternative for rail operators on non-electrified lines. In summary, it is an advanced, sustainable and safe technology.
Alstom is committed to reducing energy consumption in operations and solutions by 20% by 2020. The Coradia iLint –which started commercial operations last September in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany– confirms the company’s commitment and is at the same time a strategic ally towards the transition to a sustainable energy system that can benefit users, operators and the planet.
