Through its worldwide track team, Alstom delivers safe, optimised track solutions which deliver customer benefits throughout the whole track life cycle.
Covering market demands
Alstom supports rail projects worldwide through a mix of permanent track teams, in cities like Paris, Istanbul, and Roma, and agile project-based teams. These experts deliver advanced services across all rail segments, from light rail to suburban and mainline networks. Local project teams, backed by centralised engineering hubs, ensure the latest technologies and best practices are applied on-site and shared with partners and clients. This setup enables Alstom to deploy in-house digital models and tools, including numerical simulation expertise, to analyse ground-borne noise and vibration impacts, and also to provide expertise in alignment. In construction, Alstom leads with fully mechanised slab track solutions, powered by its Appitrack™ system, successfully used in major projects for over 26 years.
Presence in all project phases
Our trackwork teams are involved from conceptual designs to testing & commissioning and maintenance. This enables us to be involved in track contracts of any perimeter, from a fully blown privately financed scheme for a global railway solution (e.g. the Nimes Montpellier bypass high speed line) to a standalone track contract (SGP Line 18 Track - 3rd rail – Linear Equipment). Working closely with other rail subsystems, the teams help resolve complex interface challenges, such as track-to-civil works and wheel-rail dynamics, ensuring seamless integration across the entire railway infrastructure.
In-house expertise
Customers in many countries have benefited from our extensive in-house track skills at all stages of the track life cycle. We have competencies to develop both design & construction methodology and support to maintenance, and we are also proficient in mobilising appropriate external resources in an effective way. This approach enables us to take on extremely complex track projects, for example lines 4, 5 & 6 of the Riyadh metro where we have implemented our Appitrack Metro solutions and several other track forms. We also have the in-house human resources to address all activities associated with track, from construction sequencing and programming to procurement and cost control.
Products improvement
After the completion of Riyadh Project (2018), and before new challenges to come in 2025 (France, Israel and Chile), Alstom has enlarged his portfolio and developed an Appitrack solution on-plinth (to address viaduct a/o tunnel configuration), with associated new head adaptors able to insert a large range of fasteners. A new head has also been created with 3rd rail support insert.
