ALSTOM has just received, from Métrovias SA, an order
worth 186 million euros for the supply of 16 trainsets to be
used on the A Line of Buenos Aires' metro system.

The order calls for the manufacture of 80 rustproof steel
metro cars, to be equipped with ONIX traction systems and built
in ALSTOM's Brazil unit.

The trainsets, with a capacity for 825 passengers, will
benefit from a system for controlling speed, from a
driver-assistance and maintenance system and from an on-board
system for passenger information.

The first delivery will take place 18 months after the
contract goes into effect.

More than 50 major cities around the world are already
equipped with ALSTOM metros. This new order reinforces the
Company's position in the Latin American transport market.
ALSTOM has already supplied metros for Mexico City, Caracas,
Medellin, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Buenos Aires and
Santiago del Chile.

With a strong Brazilian presence in rolling stock and
signaling, ALSTOM has recently received orders for maintaining
the rolling stock, fixed installations and signaling of
Brasilia's metro as well as for the turnkey rail transport
project of Fortaleza, Brazil.
