The guests at the preview showing visited the top-of-the-line
regional train, which carries 211 passengers in great comfort at
a speed of 200 km/h. Attending were the Secretary of State for
Transportation and Maritime Affairs, Dominique Bussereau,
Guillaume Pépy, Deputy Managing Director of Customer
Services for the SNCF, Michel Moreau, President of ALSTOM
Transport, and many regional officials.

The Z TER is a product of close collaboration between ALSTOM
and the SNCF, the French national railway, which actively
participated in its conception. The SNCF will operate the trains
for the French Regions that are acquiring them.

57 trains sets have already been ordered: 17 by Brittany, 15
by the Centre region, 15 by the Pays de la Loire region, six by
Aquitaine and five by Poitou-Charentes. The first trains are to
begin commercial service as replacement for existing stock after
official approval, expected in early 2003.

ALSTOM's Transport Sector, with annual sales of 4.4
billion, is an internationally leading supplier of rolling
stock, information systems, services and complete turnkey
systems to the rail industry.
