rd, ATM (the local transport authority belonging to
the Catalonia Regional Government, Barcelona Municipality and
other local authorities)and TRAMVIA METROPOLITÀ, S.A. are
exhibiting the first of the 19 ALSTOMs CITADIS trams which
will serve the city on the first line of the network.

ALSTOMs CITADIS, called TRAM by the customer, is based
on the very latest technology and security system. It is entirely
manufactured in Catalonia at the Santa Perpetua Industrial
centre, which is positioned to be the second tramway centre of
the most recent CITADIS
TM technology.

  • ALSTOM builds the rolling stock and is responsible for the
    project management, system engineering, energy substations,
    telecommunication, ticketing, road and rail signalling and
    workshop equipment.     
  • ALSTOM owns the 25% of this Company. Among other members of
    this consortium are:

    FCC Construcción, Marfina, Arande, COMSA,
    ACCIONA-NECSO Group, Soler i Sauret, CGT Corporación
    General de Transportes, CGEA CONNEX, GUIAVIA, Bansabadell
    Inversió Desenvolupament and Société
    Générale.     
  • ALSTOM will operate the line for 25
    years.

    seated.     
  • Commercial operation will be in
    2003.     
  • First cab presentation took place on April 19,
    2002.     
  • ATM chose ALSTOM In July 2002 for the construction of the
    second line of the Barcelona
    Tram.     
  • ALSTOM will have the 25% stake in the future concessionary
    company.     
  • ALSTOM will supply for this second line 18 new CITADIS
    trams; the engineering, energy substations, telecommunication,
    ticketing, road and rail signalling, workshop equipment and
    will be responsible for project management of the
    electromechanical package.     
  • The first phase of new line is scheduled to enter
    commercial service in March 2004, in time for the Forum
    exhibition.
