One of the subjects of this year is Regio CITADIS, the
innovative tram-trains for the city of Kassel and the
Netherlands. For the traffic system in Kassel, ALSTOM supplies
a total of 28 three-unit tram-trains. The ten Hybrid-tram
trains, which will start passenger service at the end of 2005,
are a worldwide premiere. The vehicles can be operated under
the overhead catenary of the tramway tracks and can be operated
as diesel vehicles on non-electrified railway lines. In April
of this year, ALSTOM was awarded a further order for Regio
CITADIS: The Dutch operator HTM ordered 50 bi-current
tram-trains.

Another highlight will be the CORADIA LINT for Vectus,
the youngest member of the CORADIA LINT Family. It will be
presented at InnoTrans and can be visited at the open-air
ground. Up to now, has ALSTOM sold approximatively 300 of the
successful vehicle family CORADIA LINT in Germany and Europe.
Around 160 CORADIA LINT vehicles are in passenger service today
and already covered 80 million kilometres – which is
about 2 000 times around the earth.

A further main focus of ALSTOM at the Innotrans will be
the vehicle family CORADIA LIREX. The vehicle concept is based
on the LIREX project developed by ALSTOM in cooperation with
the DB AG. This innovative experimental train with its
continuous low-floor configuration and its roof-mounted
equipment attracted large attention at the Innotrans 2000. The
Swedish operator AB Transitio/Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL)
awarded ALSTOM the order for 55 vehicles of the type CORADIA
LIREX.

Further subjects will be presented such as the current
ERTMS projects in Switzerland and in Italy, Turnkey project
CITADIS tramways for Barcelona - the first 100% low-floor
tramway in Spain and Metropolis underground vehicles for
Singapore – the world’s longest fully automatic
metro line.
