SJ has had big problems with punctuality in rail traffic in
autumn, especially in the region of Mälardalen. The delays
were due to:

- Lack of staff

- Lack of vehicles

- Problems with the infrastructure

According to SJ's managing director Jan Forsberg, half of
the problems are due to infrastructure while the other half
depends on lack of staff or vehicles. On November 30th, SJ,
banverket and ALSTOM met in order to manage the problems by
their united efforts.

A part of the lack of vehicles depends on the
double-deckers, which ALSTOM delivers to SJ. In autumn, ALSTOM
has carried out a careful fault tracing. Now ALSTOM knows what
they can do about the problems with the doors and the main
power switch, which were the chief causes of the disruptions.
This will be carried out on all trains until January, when the
entire fleet of already delivered trains will have been taken
care of.

On November 30th, SJ has taken over another four trains.
Altogether, 25 trains have been delivered. Until Christmas,
another three trains are supposed to be delivered. Jan
Forsberg, SJ's managing director, states: "It is pleasant that
ALSTOM is putting all efforts into the project. In Hagalund,
200 persons are working with the X40 delivery."
