RWE Power has also awarded to ALSTOM an optional second part
of the contract covering the supply and erection of the plant
as well as a twelve year service agreement, for the scheduled
and unscheduled maintenance at the plant. When RWE Power
decides to build the plant, the second part of the contract
will come into force.
The plant technology is based on two GT26 gas turbines in a
multishaft arrangement with heat recovery steam generators,
steam turbine, gas cooled electrical generators and a natural
draft cooling tower.
Today, there are 76 units with this ALSTOM technology in
commercial operation and the GT24/GT26 fleet has accumulated
more than 1.5 million fired hours. Two projects including seven
GT 26 turbines are under construction in Spain and
Thailand.
Philippe Joubert, President of ALSTOM's Power Turbo-Systems
/ Power Environment Sector, said: "The GT26 technology that
ALSTOM is supplying is now recognised as being one of the most
technologically advanced gas-turbine technologies available.
Coupled with this is ALSTOM's capacity to provide a total plant
integrator package to our customers. Having been selected by
RWE Power confirms the attractiveness of this technology in the
European market."
