These tests deal with traction, braking, acoustics, dynamic
behaviour of the 1
st motor car produced in July 2006 by the ALSTOM
Transport unit in Belfort. Their purpose is to check correct
behaviour of the train set and to ensure safety and comfort for
future users and passengers. The Eastern European TGV will connect Strasbourg and Paris
in 2h20 instead of the 4h30 it currently takes. It will run on
four different networks (Germany, France, Luxemburg and
Switzerland). For this purpose, the motor car is equipped with
the 4 different signalling systems of these countries and with
the European railway interoperability system ERTMS (European Rail
Traffic Management System) intended for standardizing the 23
different signalling systems currently in use in Europe and
implementing a unique system. The Eastern European TGV is due to enter revenue service on
June 10
th, 2007.
