ALSTOM wins further hydro contracts in China

ALSTOM has recently been awarded two contracts worth around 50 million
euros to supply equipment for two hydropower stations in China.
The first order, placed by Guizhou Qianyuan Power Development Corporation, is for the supply of four 220MW Francis turbines and ring gates to the Dongqing hydropower station in the southwestern Guizhou Province. The first unit is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2008. The second order is from Gansu Xiaosanxia Hydro Development Corporation, for the delivery of four 34MW Bulb turbine/generator units for the Wujinxia hydropower station in the western Gansu Province. With runner diameters of around 7.1 metres, these machines are among the biggest bulb units in China. Operation of the first unit is planned for 2008. ALSTOMs Unit in Tianjin, China, is responsible for design, manufacture and delivery of all equipment as well as project management. ALSTOM is presently executing another project for Guizhou Qianyuan Power Development Corporation, providing four 260MW generators and their auxiliaries to the Guangzhao hydropower station in Guizhou Province.
