Anti-competitive practices: The European Commission gives
its verdict

ALSTOM S.A. was fined for an amount of around
12 million and, on a joint and several basis with Areva
T&D, of around 53 million. Siemens was
fined 420 million, Mitsubishi 120 million
and Toshiba 90 million.

The Transmission & Distribution
Division (T&D), put up for sale by Alstom in
March 2003, as part of the Alstom Recovery Plan, and acquired
by Areva in January 2004, is affected by this ruling.

Alstom has not yet been notified of the reasons on the
decision to fine and reserves the possibility of contesting the
decision through the appropriate legal channels.
