60 years after the disappearance of the
tramway from Le Mans (France), this mode of transport reappeared
on the streets of the city where the first tram line was
inaugurated on 17-18 November. The opening of this first 12km
line from the north-west to the south of the city will be
followed by the commissioning of a second branch to the east on
22 December. Alstom Transport has delivered a total of 23 trams
and will provide after-sales service for the next 18 months with
a dedicated team on site. The line will transport an average of
48,000 passengers a day. The highly contemporary silhouette of
the tram was designed jointly by the agency RCP from Tours and
the Alstom Transport Design & Styling department . The
Citadis is livened up by a round nose and its red livery evokes
the shades of the Gallo-Roman ramparts surrounding the town.
