Alstom the leading supplier of flue gas cleaning systems to pulp & paper plants

ALSTOM will supply new
flue gas cleaning systems to several pulp & paper plants both in Finland and
abroad. New electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) for the control of particulate
emissions will be delivered to clean the flue gases from soda recovery boilers,
biofuel boilers and lime sludge kilns. In addition to the delivery of new
electrostatic precipitators Alstom will modernise ESPs at Finnish pulp mills. The total value of these projects is approximately 16 M.

To
UPM-Kymmene, Kymi
REC08 project in Finland, Alstom will supply three
concrete-bottom ESPs for a new soda recovery boiler and one new electrostatic
precipitator for a new lime sludge kiln. The scope of the delivery includes
erection, insulation and commissioning of the precipitators. The erection at
the site in Kuusankoski, Finland, starts in July / August
2007 and the commissioning of the precipitators will be done during summer
2008.

Stora Enso Oyj,
Heinola Fluting mills HEVI2008 -project
in Finland Alstom will supply one new concrete-bottom ESP for the existing soda
recovery boiler and one new ESP for the existing Bubbling Fluidized Bed boiler.
The erection started in March 2007 and the project is proceeding well according
to the project time schedule. The precipitators will be ready during Autumn
2007. With the help of these new precipitators Heinola Fluting mill can reduce
the flue gas emissions in compliance with the mills new environmental permits.

To
Tembec Tartas pulp
mill located in South-Western France Alstom
will supply one new ESP for a Bubbling Fluidized Bed boiler. The contract has
been signed with Austrian Energy & Environment AG & Co KG., who will
supply the new boiler with steam production capacity 85 t/h / 48 bar(a). The
erection work at the site in France
will start in June 2007 and the commissioning of the precipitator is scheduled
for Autumn 2007.

In
addition to the new electrostatic precipitator orders Alstom will modernise a
lime sludge kiln ESP at UPM-Kymmene Kaukas pulp mill
in Finland.
The retrofit will be done by adding two electrical fields to the current ESP.
The retrofit will be executed during September and October 2007 and the new
retrofitted ESP will be connected to the pulp mill process during a short shut
down at the end of October 2007.

A
Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) has been signed with Oy Botnia Mill Service
Ab for the maintenance of flue gas lines of the recovery boiler, lime sludge
kiln and power boiler at Oy Metsä-Botnia Kaskinen pulp mill
in Finland.
